Hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating, is a disorder in which the body produces an excessive amount of sweating. This can be idiopathic (i.e. no known cause) or can be the sign of a more serious medical condition. It can affect any area of your body, but is most common in the armpits, palms of the hands, and soles of the feet. Hyperhidrosis can be treated with topical medications, iontophoresis, Botox, oral medications, and surgery.
